Reintroduced Bill C-21

Updated: Jun 2, 2022

On May 30th, 2022, the Minister of Public Safety reintroduced Bill C-21 for a first reading in parliament. The current 2022 revision of Bill C-21 is a more aggressive version which targets both firearms and anything that resembles a replica. In addition, the Liberal government is also looking to use OIC to make additional changes and amendments, at this time it is unclear whether the OIC will also extend to the Airsoft Industry.

We are monitoring both the status of the Bill and the ongoing debates in Parliament regarding this issue, and we will be meeting with members of parliament to discuss and explore possible solutions.

The Airsoft industry represents a significant area of business in Canada and a strong source of employment for many Canadians across the country. The illogical prohibition of the sport will be a determent to both business owners, community members, and to the greater retail economy, in an otherwise, difficult global financial situation following COVID-19.

We urge all Airsoft business owners and related industry members, to inform their customer base to contact their local MPs to resist Bill C-21. Many of us have built our livelihoods around this sport and there is a lot at stake. In turn, our commitment will reflect this, as we debate and discuss with our MPs to let them know how this can and will affect us if the Bill is passed. We do hope that our next update on this issue will bear more positive outlook and solutions regarding C-21.
